Security Supervisor

The role oversees the employment of security staff including permanent, casual and contracted

The Security Supervisor is responsible for providing organisational and supervisorial direction in leading the Security Department and team. They will ensure the Venue is professionally presented and operated at all times and that through the department the highest level of security service is delivered to the public and promoting organisations attending and operating within the facility. Working with the Chief Executive’s Department and the wider organisational department of the Security Director of SMG Europe, the Security Manager will ensure that all events are operated securely. Cooperation is essential in working with venue departments and their operations for the daily operations of the facility.

Key Duties and Accountabilities

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise all aspects of operations of the Security Department within the Venue including:
    • Patrolling of the facility internally/externally on a regular managed basis
    • Operation and monitoring of the security equipment (CCTV, DVR’s alarm systems etc) and associated control room spaces
  • Supervise and as necessary roster the security staff and contracting organisations
  • Recruit security staff as necessary
  • Arrange training for members of the security team pursuant to appropriate industry standards dealing with patrons, community groups and staff
  • Ensure the operations of the department work within the requirements of health and safety legislation
  • Ensure the operations of the department work within the requirements of GDPR legislation
  • Develop Security and contingency plans for the venue
  • Conduct risk assessments
  • Supervise the Security Department to respond to the needs of the operational departments within the Venue
  • Liaise with promoters giving regular feedback and advice as may be required
  • Organise the security of performances and daily operations in cooperation with the House Management and liaise with all other departments as necessary
  • Ensure the department runs within the operational budget provided and in reference to the Venue’s Financial Officer and Chief Executive or delegate
  • Undertake and supervise post event analysis and inputting data as necessary into the Event Scheduling package
  • Provide all Departments with data as requested
  • Provide any reports that may be required by the Venue and company executives
  • *Work evening and weekend hours as necessary and or required
  • Travel to events and conferences as directed and provided by the company on an as required basis
  • Other duties as may be required by the management

Knowledge & Qualifications

  • Current SIA Door Supervisors Licence
  • Current SIA CCTV Licence
  • First Aid at Work Qualification
  • Awareness of Counter Terrorism (ACT or Project Griffin)
  • Fire Awareness Training


  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - both written and verbal
  • Must have excellent customer care skills
  • The ability to remain calm under pressure and the confidence/ability to deal with difficult situations (including those involving conflict
  • The ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Reliable and flexible


  • Management qualification and/or relevant management experience
  • Experience working in the event industry e.g. Door Supervision, and/or Event Stewarding or Venue Security
  • Crowd management experience

TECA do not sell tickets directly.

What time is the Box Office open?

Our box office at TECA will be open on concert days only. This will be open from 17:30 on the date of the show only and closes once the main act comes on stage.

Will I be able to purchase food at TECA?

There is a wide range of food and beverage options available to purchase for concerts and events, including catering outlets offering a variety of hot food options.

Please note - it is against venue policy to allow patrons to bring in their own food and drink to the venue.

Are there cash machines available at TECA?

There will be no cash machines on site, however contactless payments are welcome.

Do you have a cloakroom during concerts?

We do not have cloakroom or storage facilities at TECA for concerts and shows.

Can I bring my camera to a concert?

Compact cameras and camera phones are permitted at concerts unless otherwise stated. Any camera which has a removable lens is not permitted within the venue. This is a stipulation of the acts and their promoters, due to copyright issues.

Photographers must contact TECA (who will pass the request on to the relevant promoter) to request a press pass which, if granted, will allow access with a professional camera.

How do I get to TECA from outside Aberdeen?

Getting into Aberdeen has never been easier with the completion of the new Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route.

TECA is located close to Aberdeen airport, six miles northwest of the city centre you can reach the venue using a range of transport options.

How do I purchase accessible seating for a show at TECA?

All the tickets for our Special Access Platform are sold via our ticket agent Ticketmaster.
